Except for the occasional MySpace fans, Facebook is the largest social networking website. Several people log in to Facebook on a daily basis to reconnect with old friends and distant loved ones. There are an unbelievable amount of applications and games to keep one busy all day long!
Facebook Beginners
Any person that decides to join the clan of Facebook groupies must create a log in and a password. Once this is completed, the individual can start on his or her profile. Hundreds of different things can be done on Facebook, but the most popular starter items are:
- Filling in basic information such as an email address, relationship status, birthday and hometown.
- Personal Facebook information is optional and includes favorite music, movies, books, television shows, hobbies, activities, etc.
- Facebook is the number one photo-sharing social network website on the internet. Photos are uploaded easily with the option of inserting a caption.
- Beginners are definitely in need of Facebook friends, which can be done with the friend search. Another simple option is to find friends in a search with one's high school name.
For safety precautions, children under the age of thirteen are not allowed to access Facebook. Unfortunately, the only way the website knows the age is by that person entering his or her birthday by honesty.
Facebook Applications
The number of applications on this social network site is almost unlimited. People can become fans of some of their favorite things, such as bands, celebrities, foods, etc. A few of the simple and fun applications are:
- Horoscopes
- Quizzes
- Surveys
- Games
Any application can be found by using the Facebook search engine. Several of the most popular Facebook games are Farm Town, My Town, YoVille, Zynga Poker and many others. These simulation games involve regular playtime every day.
- Farm Town: This is a simulation game of having one's own farm. Fields are plowed, seeds are planted to grow into different items (vegetables or fruits), and then they are harvested. Trees can also be bought, along with farm buildings, equipment and animals.
- My Town: In this Facebook application, one can build his or her own town and earn money. Different houses, businesses and city buildings can be purchased to increase the town's income. Police stations, city halls, schools and leisure activities are just a few of the items that expand one's town in My Town.
- Yoville: This Facebook game is quite similar to any Sims game. Once a person has joined game play, he or she can create a character accordingly, go to work, fish, talk to others and visit friends. This game allows the player to level up in order to purchase houses, and there are available items that are more expensive to decorate the interior of his or her house.
- Zynga Poker: This is a high-class version of Texas Hold 'Em. This may be the only Facebook application that does not have to be tended to every day. People can play poker as they choose and earn more chips as the experience levels progress. People can send chips to their poker friends once a day.
Facebook is definitely an addicting social network site that entertains individuals and helps keep them updated with others daily activities. On the profile page, one's "status" can be updated as often as he or she wishes. This just allows others to know what is going on when there may not be time for one on one communication. Facebook is a highly referred social networking site. More information can be found on the actual website itself.
